Scene: First Crossing — Seren, Gelon, Yamar¶
Characters: Seren Vael, Gelon (GL-1-73), Yamar
Location: TBD — outer transit corridor waystation, approximately
two weeks after Seren's departure from the inner-world fringe hub
Date: Approximately Standard Date 2847.218–220
Status: PLACEHOLDER — scene to be written
Setup¶
Seren has been in the outer ring for two weeks. He is more functional than his first days at Ouray-7 and still visibly not from here. He has worked three transit passages and is at a waystation between routes, looking for the next one.
Gelon and Yamar are passing through the same waystation on one of their unscheduled routes — coming from the scrubland camp or moving toward the debris field, depending on what serves the story timing.
Beat¶
A transaction. Seren needs something Yamar has access to — information, a contact, a piece of equipment, passage on a route. The transaction concludes in a way that surprises both of them by being reasonable.
Gelon observes this without comment. He notices the implant luminescence.
What to Establish¶
- The texture of the first encounter: wary, practical, not hostile
- Seren's outer-ring creole: comprehensible but marked — Yamar hears the book in it
- Gelon's presence: the specific weight of something very old and very patient in a waystation corridor
- That Seren has read about Fracture Synths and that the reading was insufficient preparation
- That neither party initiates a second meeting — it simply happens
Notes¶
- Seren does not yet ask about the Flicker. That is the third crossing.
- Gelon does not yet mention the implant. He files it.
- Yamar's assessment of Seren at end of scene: not useless, probably. This is, from Yamar, a reasonable start.
